Variety show

The Variety Show is BCS's long-running annual theater production. The show is entirely run by parents, under the direction of Alison Romkey, who has put on the show for many years. It is a fun activity for the kids, and if they have more serious drama aspirations, they can get their feet wet here!

The show consists of five or six acts (“ Main Act ”) of 15-20 kids based on the them -- think Bill & Ted’s

Excellent Adventure and Bolton’s 300 Birthday -- with several additional acts (2-4 kids) that tie the theme

together (“ In Between Act ”).

Your child(ren) will be assigned to a Main Act based on their age and siblings in December. Their Main Act group will begin practicing with their assigned coaches in January. Practices are usually once a week at the school and will be based on your coaches availability (after school or during early evening hours, no weekends). The practices usually run anywhere from one hour to one and a half hours. Your child(ren) can choose at what level they want to participate in their Main Act, no one is forced to do anything they don’t feel comfortable doing.

In addition to their Main Act, you may also sign your child up for one In Between Act of either speaking or singing or dancing. They will be placed in another group for this. Your child(ren) will be given either a script, music or a dance routine that will need to be coached by one or more of the parents of the child(ren) in that act. However, we are available to assist in this matter. We do meet with the dancers and show them the dance moves. We also meet with the singers to ensure proper pitch on the karaoke track as well.
